I was referred to Dr Burney by my Primary care doc for calcium problems. I have had low calcium for my entire life and calcium supplements did not help. Had constant body aches, muscle spasms and severe fatigue. He reviewed my entire chart and explained to me that I likely had rare genetic condition where my body was resistant to parathyroid hormone. Ordered some labs and genetic testing and confirmed the diagnosis. He put me on right medicine and my calcium has normalized and all those symptoms are gone now. I suffered with this condition for my entire life and Dr Burney was the first one to accurately diagnose and treat me for this. I am planning on having kids so he spoke to me in detail about the possibility of my kids having the same problem. He ended up referring me to genetic counselor at UAB. My mother who has diabetes also sees him and really likes him.
